VETERAN FILM JOURNALIST PG SRINIVASAMURTHY DEPARTS

The walking encyclopedia on Kannada cinema the major impetus to innumerable journalists including www.chitratara.com PGS he is affectionately known is highly qualified in those days. Born in 1931 February 18 a Mysorean intermediate qualified PGS had seen the growth of Kannada cinema along with his highly respected profession in Madras USIS and in journalism.

The pillar of cinema industry too PGS started his career in 1963 from Gokula weekly. From 1966 to 1989 he was in USIS Madras and functioned as Prajavani correspondent. He was critic in music besides handling the cinema journalism.

In 1975 Chandamama group ‘Vijayachitra’ and ‘Vanitha’ weekly he worked for many years and started many interesting columns.

PGS authored many of the publications and stood as ready made journalist among various topics and never used to tolerate the mistakes done by anyone. He knew the inside of cinema making and in Madras he has been instrumental in encouraging Kannada artists and stood as strong support.

PGS was last seen at the Dwarakish Gelayara Gumpu evolution at Gayana Samaja. He came with his wife and as usual www.chitratara.com R Manohar had shared many jokes with the veteran.

We deeply regret the demise of our honorable and respected colleague PGS. There cannot be anyone like PGS.
